Indiana History Semester Theme
I started my semester theme with some basic map lessons. I believe students need to know their directions, where the state is located, what states border it, and other interesting facts. I included in my first lesson that 1/2 the nation's land area lies 700 miles outside Indianapolis, but 2/3 of the nation's population lies within that same 700 mile radius. It is so interesting! I will build on this lesson with other interesting phenomena about Indiana.

My Semester Theme
I chose as my semester theme, Indiana History. I chose this because I taught it to all three of my children and I loved teaching it. I love history. I have often read many books that are historical in content. Indiana History is fascinating to me because I have lived in Indiana all my life. I have traveled many places in Indiana and believe that it is filled with a rich heritage. I believe that children should learn a lot about where they are from, whether it is their country, state, county or city.
About Me
I am 43 years old and a mother of 3. I have a degree in Elementary Education from Purdue. I graduated in 1988, and am now returning to school to renew my teaching license. For the past 15 years I have home schooled my children. I have been married for 24 years to a wonderful man who also graduated from Purdue. I hope to get a job teaching this fall. I love to teach!
